ABOUT US

Chase Information Technology Services Limited has been selling its market leading CALM C/S® solution for 20 years to the Marine Insurance market. Seven years, several million pounds of R+D expenditure and a strategic merger later, Chase has also become a leader in voice recognition and thematic text analysis and has launched a number of solutions for the Compliance, Legal and Call Centre marketplace, as well as its core Insurance base.

Behind the solutions is a team that has all been successful in their own spheres, combining solid sector knowledge with proven entrepreneurial flair.

Following Chase's successful merger, the company has re-emerged as a leader in innovative technology, but building on a reputation for enterprise strength solutions that meet real business needs. Chase recognises that it's no good just having good technology. The secret is how you apply it to the needs of your customers.

THE TEAM

BEN SHELLIE

CEO

Ben has been a successful entrepreneur for over 20 years. He founded Chase with a simple idea: Improve business process. It just so happened that best way to do that was using technology, and so Ben and his team put together systems that have dominated the Marine Insurance industry for 20 years.

Ben's vision has allowed Chase to move the Marine Insurance market out of its comfort zone, and to embrace new ideas and technology. He has dramatically speeded up his clients' business processes, and with the recent launch of the Online Charterer's Declaration Portal has dispensed with the traditional "Fifth Quarter" so dreaded by the industry

NIGEL CANNINGS

Technical Director

For 15 years, Nigel practiced as a lawyer specialising in IT and IP law. Quickly realising that private practice was not the place for his entrepreneurial spirit to flourish, he left the City and went to work for a series of US software firms, eventually moving to BEA during the dot com boom, ending up as the youngest ever European Counsel for a top NASDAQ software company.

In 2004, Nigel left BEA and started investing in small companies, mainly in the technology space, although with a small foray into mobile coffee sales. This lead to his appointment as Managing Director of Kinomi, where he founded Jiglu.com, the first ever automatic blog tagging service

BILL CANNINGS

Non-executive Chairman

If you are sitting in front of a computer reading this, it is Bill Cannings' fault.

While Elvis was breathing his last, Bill was touring garages in California. He was buying the first ever PC's, and which he sold through the BYTE Shop, starting in Gants Hill, and then around the country. The first ever Apple computer sold in Europe was sold by Bill, a fact rarely acknowledged by Steve Jobs.

Bill went on to introduce commercial OCR to the UK in 1989, eventually selling his company to Hummingbird (now Open Text) in 2003.
